Human insight will become a premium offering. Many core AI capabilities are becoming widely available. This reduces their role as a competitive advantage. In the near future, how organizations differentiate themselves will depend more on humans than on technology.
I envision a future where humans cultivate a deep awareness of themselves, their environment, and their objectives. This, combined with a conscious and intentional relationship with AI, will form the foundation for a more responsible world.

Our Challenge
The use of AI is changing how we think and make decisions. As AI takes over routine tasks, professionals increasingly rely on AI for judgment. This leads to cognitive offloading and automation bias. Recent empirical studies show that reliance on AI leads to reduced judgment, less initiative, and a weaker ability to assess complex situations.
The gradual decline of human intuition fosters bias and diminishes the unique viewpoints human beings bring to the table. The consequence is stagnation in both human development and meaningful growth of organizations. In a professional setting, this ultimately results in a deterioration in performance, innovation, and leadership capability.
Of particular importance: when AI models are trained using only AI-generated input, the overall quality of the output degrades over time. This leads to a loss of diversity and an increase in biases and errors. The resulting phenomenon is referred to as ‘model collapse’.
Way Through
Critical thinking is recognized as essential for guiding AI and ensuring it behaves as intended. Based on my PhD research, I define critical thinking not merely as a set of skills, but as an inherent human capability grounded in lived experience and embodied self-awareness. As humans, we are not just our thoughts. We are creative beings who experience and respond to the world.
AI generates outputs from learned patterns and probabilities. Discernment based on lived experience is inherently human.
Awareness of what one feels and thinks reduces the risk of cognitive over-dependence on AI. It enhances the human ability to assess situations with clarity and perspective.
For AI: Thoughtful information generated by humans, reflecting unique experience and critical thinking, helps AI-models learn from diverse, real-world data. This ensures that AI maintains performance, and avoids degradation caused by over-reliance on synthetic data.
